Know who has every book,
and get it back on time.

Library catalogues your books by ISBN, lends them by scanning a student card and a QR label, and emails parents when a book is overdue, from the librarian's desk or a self-serve tablet.

Every book that is out, who has it, and the one that is late.

A school library shouldn't run on memory.

  1. Today · 01

    A notebook behind the desk

Loans are written in an exercise book or a spreadsheet. When a class set goes missing, nobody can say who had the last copy.

  2. Today · 02

    Overdue books chased by hand

The librarian works through the list, writes notes home and remembers who has already been asked. Most books come back eventually. Some never do.

  3. Today · 03

    One desk, one queue

Every loan waits for the librarian to write it down. At break the queue is out of the door, and when the librarian is away, lending stops.

Scan the card, scan the book, done.

  1. Every copy, and who has it

Each copy carries its own QR label, so the loans list shows exactly which copy is out, with whom, and when it is due back.

  2. Reminders go out on their own

A daily check emails parents about overdue books, no more often than the interval you choose, and can send a gentle reminder before the due date too.

  3. Students lend to themselves

A shared tablet runs a self-serve kiosk: a student scans their card, then the book. The librarian is free to help, not to write things down.

From an empty shelf list to the first reminder.

  1. 01

    Build the catalogue

Scan or type a book's ISBN. FirstDay looks it up and fills in the title, authors, publisher and cover for you to check. Add more copies from the title's page.

  2. 02

    Label the books

Print a QR label for every copy on standard label sheets or a thermal roll. Each label has a short code underneath, so a torn sticker can still be typed in.

  3. 03

    Lend and return by scanning

At the desk or the kiosk, scan the student's card, then the book. FirstDay works out whether it is a loan or a return, and enforces your loan limit and holds.

A student scans their card, then the book. No staff login needed.
  4. 04

    Let the reminders chase

Each day FirstDay emails parents about overdue books, tells families when a reserved book is ready to collect, and releases holds nobody picked up.

Questions about
Library.

How is Library priced?

20 zł (€5) per enrolled student per month. Archived students aren't counted, and there is no charge per book, per copy or per loan.

Do we need other modules?

No. Library runs on its own. Students identify themselves with a FirstDay student card, which you issue and print in FirstDay. If you also use Timetable & Attendance, the same card works for its card-scan register.

Do we have to type in every book?

Not usually. Scan or type the ISBN and FirstDay fills in the details and cover from Open Library or Google Books. If a book isn't found, you fill in the form by hand.

What can a student see at the kiosk?

Only their own books. A student who has forgotten their card can find themselves by name if you allow it, and the results show just a first name and class. Revoke a kiosk link and that tablet stops working at once.

Who can see and change what?

Lending, printing labels, managing kiosk links and settling fines are separate permissions. Kiosk links aren't part of the default Member role, so they have to be granted on purpose. Changes are written to the audit log.

Can fines be added to our school invoices?

Not today. Fines are a record only: staff mark them paid or waived, and no money moves through FirstDay. They are off by default, so a school that only wants to track loans never charges anything.
